I got a new one for my 3000 at WM. They list the lengths in their catalog. I took my old one in to make sure I got the right length because no one seemed to know what the code meant anymore.

The belt length is in the code, so bring it with you. I bought my replacements at WM a few years ago and still using the first replacement of 2 that I bought. Because setups are different lengths on different boats, you must know the length that you need because they have to order it. Bring the old belt with you.

580XL050 designation for the belt breaks down as follows: 580 Length of belt (I believe its 58.0 inches) XL Pitch (distance between teeth, 1/5 inches) 050 width of belt, 0.50 inches These belts are available at industrial power transmission suppliers and may be available at auto parts stores. They are pretty long belts so they may be hard to find at auto parts stores. Try the yellow pages under Power Transmission Supplies.

Hello, Thanks for all the information. Brett - I think you solved the puzzle. The 58" circumference corresponds to standard, 23.6 distance between the center of the wheel and the drive unit. It's also the standard belt shipped with the unit. Now I can order one from West Marine. The problem I had is that no one locally stocks the belt, so I can't bring my old one in to be matched up. If I were at the boat I could measure the distance from the wheel to the drive unit, but I'm not at the boat! Thanks again, Barry
