Autohelm access codes

I changed out a battery last week and then took Salt&Pepper out yesterday only to find that my autohelm ST50 instruments all now wanted an access code. Well I don't have much documentation that came with this boat and I'm in a bit of a loss - I plan to contact Raytheon but thought I'd try you all first. Anyone had this experience before? Many thanks, Bill

Good luck

I don't have much good to tell you. I bought a used boat this spring. When I finally got it in the water, the Raytheon autopilot requested an access code. This is something that is set to prevent theft. I didn't have the code, I contacted the broker who contacted the original owner and they didn't have the code. I was told Ratheon had a codebreaker application, but I'd have to send the unit in to have it done and prove that I was indeed the owner. So... I sent the unit in. I was contacted and informed that they didn't have any codebreaker code, but for $250 they would replace the entire electronc guts of the unit and return it to me. This did allow me to get the latest version of the software. It all works fine now, but my experience says there is no way to break the code if you don't know it.
