Autohelm 800 Help!!!

Just got an Autohelm 800 from ebay, new but old stock. Worked great for a few hours, then pushrod got stuck on fully extended position. Internal sounds still seem appropriate.

Could be a broken belt. Did you open it up?

You should always calibrate an AP to limit it's physical travel from reaching the end point. You will eventually destroy the drive unit.

Call Raymarine. They should be able to help.

Is it an analog Autohelm 800 ( with the round dial)? My guess is that you have it set to make a turn. Take the unit out of the pin while still plugged in and turn the unit in various different headings and see if it reacts. This happened to me once on an Autohelm 800 too. I just played with the dial too much.

Thanks for the replies. My model is not with the analogue dial, rather it is the 800 micro which has 6 buttons. I haven't opened it up yet but I assume that's the next step.

I assume that any warranty would be extinct although the product is supposedly knew. It was sold under the Navico label but Raymarine now owns the brand.

What should I look for???

I've got the manual. I opened it up and discovered that the gear on the motor is cracked and slips rather than turns the assembly.

Any idea wheter Raytheon or another location would have replacement parts?

Sometimes there are local repair shops that'll work on it.
