I started to install my new autohelm this weekend and had to stop when it came to running the wires into the binnacle. There was absolutely noroom for any more wires into the steering column. Right now the throttle cableas as well as the cables for my Datamarine instruments (in pods) run through. Can the opening be enlarged?? Any ideas??? Thanks

Actually, David, the wire doesn't go to the top of the binnacle. It exits the tube about18 inches from the floor. It should only hang out about 2-3 inches from the tube where it attaches to the motor that controls the wheel movement.

I installed a 4000 recently. I have a NAV pod that is on the pedistal. I cut two holes in the pedistal tube. One approx. 1/2 inch where the POD connects to the tube (you can't see it after assembling the Pod) , and the other smaller hole near the motor of the drive. I drilled a hloe under the tube and ran the wires up from below the cockpit floor. I don't have a macerator so I used the panel switch and precut wires to connect power to the 4000.
