The auto pilot (Autohelm 4000) on my 1988 Legend has suddenly stopped working. I can hear the drive unit turning but the wheel does not respond. So far my attempts to reach customer service have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions on trouble shooting and repairing the unit?

Take it off the wheel and have a look inside

As mentioned in previous post, the belt is probably broken or worn out. If not, then you might have one or two idler arms broken. If that is the case however, chances are you would hear some rattling noises when turning the wheel. This too can be fixed. check the archives. I've already posted how to do it twice in the last few years. Good luck
