also newer Simrad units

Steve: There is also the newer Simrad unit the WP10/30. They are completely self contained making installation easy. Just run the wires to the circuit breaker and you are ready to go once it is mounted on the wheel/pedestal. I am not familiar with your model. If you do not have a regular pedestal, you may want to contact Simrad and ask them how to install. The price is about $800 with a remote

Hunter 29.5 autopilot

I have an autohelm 4000 on my 29.5 and have been very happy with its performance and reliability-steers the boat very consistently under sail or power, and you can hook it into seatalk -ordered the same one for my new 356!

29.5 Pilot

I have a Raytheon st-4000 auto pilot on my 29.5. I have no complaints with it. Like any A.P. it is not great in all conditions. As long as you keep this in mind you will like the 4000. My son has a Simrad 30 on his 32ft Bristol and that works well for him.Good luck. ken

Autopilot

We have the Autohelm 4000 on our 1994 29.5. We're very happy with the performance. The unit interfaced easily with an older Apelco GPS via the NEMA input. Steers a compass course reliably and also will maintain a course relative to the wind with data from the ST50 Wind instrument via SeaTalk.

ST4000

Using the ST4000 with excellent results. It can be a bit slow to respond in heavier puffs, but overall very satisfied.
