Check archives for 23.5

Mark, Seems I remember seeing a installation on a 23.5 using the Autohelm RayMarine. You can expect to pay $750 to $850 US for this. It is very easy to install your self, it just takes some forethought. I installed my own on a H260 wheel and pedestal without any major trauma. Jim S/V Java

Check out the photo archives for this project by a guy who did the installtion on his 26 tiller. It's very thoroughive and helpful and of course the photos tell the story like words alone can't.

Installed a TP2000 on my 26

I posted the photos of my installation. I have to give credit ot Ron Mehringer, as he helped me with mine. Installion was fairly easy, and the cost was about 750 semolians. I installed an additional power panel as the autopilot will be the largest electrical load on the boat unless you have refrigeration. Mike Pajewski H26 "Loon"

Raytheon ST1000 on H260

Dear Mark, this past winter I installed a Raytheon ST1000 Autohelm ($499, West Marine) on my 2002 H260. To make things even sweeter, I was able to interface the unit with my Garmin 76 GPS ($225, West Marine). The only problem I incurred, with the installation, was that the stock autohelm seems to be designed to be installed with a wooden tiller. As the H260 has a metal tiller, its a little more challenging. I cut my tiller in half (with a pipe cutter) and slipped a wooden block inside the tiller so the tiller pin has better support. I was then able to re-attach the tiller arm so that I can sail the boat with the normal tiller, or remove the extension when the boat is being controlled by the autohelm. The unit itself can be mounted directly to the side of the boat but you need to use a seven (I think) inch extension to the recipricating arm. Both units work wonderful. I have plotted a series on GPS points (called a route) and the GPS streams these points to the autohelm. Up to about 12 knots of wind, my sailing adventures consist of sail trim, entertaining guests and making sure I don't run into anything. Plus my cockpit is empty - no large wheel, no pedistial, no tiller arm swinging in the way, it really works great. I'll be down at the boat this weekend and I'll try to take some pictures and post them. Good luck!

Mark, I need your email address

Mark, I went down to the boat tonight and took pictures. I selected eight of the best and was going to post them but the HOW web site is pretty restrictive is photo size - 80,000kb. All eight photos are about 500,000kb each and I am not sure how to cut them down. Please give me email and I'll send them to you. My email is rpfcpa@yahoo.com. Regards, Bob

my installation

I just posts sevral photos in the photo section, once again not my boat or photos (thanks to Makr K for getting them to me) but mine ended up almost the same. Need a threaded pin, I just put a thread on the one I had. Hey Bob I like your idea of the removal tiller. Love to see the photos darthur2@nycap.rr.com. BTW I feel your pain with the uploads, my file size was 0.5K too big had to crop etc to fit it in still love the opertunity this site gives us.

Hi Mark, sorry I have a 240.
