Hello all I have a Rule 2000 bilge pump connected to a Rule 35 float switch. Problem is that the switch does not turn on until the water is higher than I would like it. Is there any adjustments that can be made, or are there any better switches that people use? I have a Pearson P36-2 that has a shallow bilge. Hate having that much water in there. When I am sailing it is dry as I amnually drain it, however it is when I am not on the boat and rain water runs down the mast, gets into the bilge, then the heat can make a mess in that nice, dark, wet bilge. Thanks as always Greg

Styrofoam

Hi Greg, Could add a block of styrofoam under the float switch - need to make sure the switch can operate and reset at the raised position. Or you could replace the pump with a Rule automatic pump using electronic sensing(no float switch). This pump cycles on every 10 minutes or so for 1 second and stays on if water id pumped. Will say on until all water is pumped out.

bilge switch

HI. again. Over many years this site has been very helpful to many of sailers for information of others You mentioned about the bilge swith which I was concerned about the hight of the (on ) hight but Rule said is a fix setting, I mounted the switch on a angle pitched downward so the flote would go on earler try that the swtches are not adjustable, In my bilge there is always water from my mast top when it rains and there isn'T enough water to pump out, I thought my input would help you , good luck Frederick Pierce
