Great Year - Sailing To Work

2004 was a great year for us. The 1998 260 we bought at the end of '03 made it into the water - after we added VHF and FM radios, new instruments, new cushions and an electric cooler during the winter re-fit. Then I was able to sail my boat from the dock to my office at least once a week (a two-hour sail each way; photo attached), and every few weeks my wife and / or children would join me for the sail home. We also took the opportunity occasionally to overnight on Lake Erie several times, which were great family experiences. 2005 should be an even better year!

Finally Bought Our Big Boat

I have to say that 2004 was a great year for us. We finally bought our Catalina 30 (1988) after trips to Tennessee, South Carolina and Florida trying to locate one. Behold, she finally showed up in the "for sale" ad in the local paper. No need to ship one from out of state either. Breezin II has become pretty much a great home away from home and the tranquility of being on the water, although its a landlocked lake marina is a special time for us as a family. All the pressures and hassles of the world seem to be left at the dock. Nothing beats sailing. I promised my wife that we would move the boat to the coast and explore America for six months to a year. I wonder how many can say they have a spouse that "insists" on sailing the coast!! So, its weekends on good old Lake Lanier for now, but 2005 if the world stays together, should provide some interesting changes for us. Happy New Year and Fair Winds to you all. Good Year

2004 was a good year...moved from a C25 to a C320. However, did not spend as much time as I would have liked on the boat. Seems all the relatives are getting on in years...had four elderly aunt/uncle deaths this year. As previously mentioned, maybe this is a wake up call. We all need to spend time doing what we think is important and enjoy.

Terrific Season

Cool days and plenty of wind made this past summer one of the best in 25 years on the Chesapeake Bay...We had our share of rain but I'll take that over 100 degrees and still...I have sailed a '78 33 foot hunter for 12 years now...and it has never let me down...added a new "used" main sail last spring and it's made a world of difference...hit 9 knots this fall on a smooth day with wind around 15....sails close to the wind and is steady with a full keel. Plenty of head room, all the conforts for weekend trips with my family and worth now what I paid in 1993....It's a great boat.

50 Days on the Water and still Smiling

2004 was a GREAT year on the water. We spent 50 days sailing and enjoying our Hunter Legend 37 in the San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands. Can't wait for Spring 2005 to continue our water bourne adventures. We had great weather, warm, hot , sunny days , swimming was real fun and the fishing was very good. Has some wonderful weekends in Sucia Island and Roche Hrb. San Juan Island. Barrie

Any Year I Have My Health

Didn't sail much the weather and my job conspired to keep me ashore. Vow to cure that this year. Anyhow, life is good got to work/play with the boat. Met nice folks at the marina. I did see Porpises play in our creek, that's a good sign the ecology hasn't gone completely to hell. Had wonderful evenings on board watching sunsets, fireworks and brats cooking on the grill. Life is grand and the sailing life is grander. Got the big projects done on the boat new bulkheads, new through hulls, new oil lamps, new battery, new compass new boom, the boat is coming along just fine. I have been reminded now and then that life is short make the most of it! The best to all the sailors on the board in the new year! Smooth sailing Julie

Being chased by the BIG WIND *cry

the admiral and I put in on the kissemee river north of lake okeechobee this last summer with a cruise plan to sail across the lake,motor thur the river to Ft meyers and then out into the gulf. We were going to go to the dry tortugas then to key west and after resupplying there go to the cay sal bank and off to Androse in the bahamas. but getting to about 10 miles north of naples the good ol VHF said bonnie was north and west of us which was good, but then it said Charlie was going to be right in our way and comeing strong. so i asked the admiral if she wanted to go home. OH YES was her reply. as we had no wind we were on motor all the way back up the river and into okeechobee we had lots of wind. all from charlie. with Big thunder storms all around us.... the 3rd one that went over us as charlie was catching us blew out our GPS and with out a ships compass one is in deep doo doo. but in the good olf nav. bag i still had my polaris and found our way to the river to get out of the big lake.we got to the north side camp ground to de mast. and at the camp they told us all locks on the river had been closed. thank god for a macgregor called for the son to bring the trailer to get us.he got there at 0200 and got home at 0430 just in time to watch charlie beat up our house.as did the next 3 huricanes .. after takeing seveire damage to the house and surviving the big storms.we have our health and our boat..... now we are planning the same trip but we are leaveing on the 1st of feb 05. hope this one works out better. New boat, new destinations, new plans...

We moved up from our H26 to a 35.5 Legend in 2004. The increase in size made further sails and new destinations possible. The weekend after getting the boat, the Admiral and I headed across the lake with the kids. First time across for them, and also their first night sail. Flying a spinnaker was new, and quite a rush. We set a goal for ourselves to enter the Chicago-Mac race this summer. Work on the boat is underway to get her race-ready, and I'm looking forward to working together with new and old crew members to be ready for the race. So, 2004? 2 thumbs up! T J

More time on our boat

We always spend a lot of time on our boats but this year got a 1996 Hunter 40. We spent over 62 days on the boat. My skipper knows that I have withdrawal attacks if he doesn't get me out on the boat every weekend. Thank goodness we can sail year-round here in Texas. My goal this year is to learn more boating and navigation skills and prepare for live aboard extended cruising. Last weekend we went out and I practiced backing and docking maneuvers. We wish all of you a great 2005 on the water.
