Very nice Roger although I do not have a facebook account so I could not see them all.

I love those Hurricane Island boats. If I could relive my youth, I would definitely sign up.

Did you try clicking the link? Those albums are supposed to be viewable by even non-facebook users. If they are not, I'd like to know so I can figure out what setting I need to change.

I was just out to close the ports on the boat and there are already impressive swells running up the harbor entrance. Much larger and I'll want to move even if we don't get much wind. It's so foggy I almost had to bring the GPS for the dinghy ride back.

Where will you move to Roger? I am pretty far out at CYC and am more worried about the Northerlys we will get on Sunday/Sunday night. Anything that breaks loose from Portland to Falmouth has the potential of hitting me.

Facebook is requiring a password. This is the screen I get:

Roger,

I may move the boat up to my Broad Cove mooring this weekend if the wid prediction breach 30 knots. If I do, I'll let you know, and you could use my Falmouth mooring. I have not seen a wind prediction over 30 knots for Casco Bay so no real worries yet..

I heard this morning 10 foot swells for the Maine & NH coast, up to 20's for those located south of Boston & the Cape.

New link works like a charm. Great photos. Hopefully I will have some to share in a few weeks.

The Bangor water front has changed a lot since I was there 50 years ago.

Beautiful pictures Roger!

Can you give us some of your tips on taking pictures from a sailboat?
What camera and/or lenses you prefer?
Any favorite positions on the boat for an interesting foreground?
Any special precautions you use to protect your equipment while out for long periods?

I just use a 3 meg digital camera that is rather low end now, point and shoot. It's where you point that matters. The only hint I can offer is to pay attention to the horizon although I do often have to rotate and crop my pictures.

I don't do anything special to protect the camera. I just throw it in a seat locker on top of some lines when I'm worried it might slide off the seat. It did fall on the cockpit floor once last trip but it didn't seem to hurt it.

That's about the total sum of my knowledge of marine photography:)

Where are you off to? I'm going to do another science cruise to repeat the May stations so I may end up going to Quoddy Head and back three times in one season. I wonder what the record is for non-commercial cruising under sail?

Thanks Roger, now I know it doesn't take big boat bucks to make great pictures.

We are sailing overnight up to Northeast Harbor in the NE Harbor race on the Friday before labor day. We should be there by Saturday evening. Then we may go further east but not to Quoddy. We will definitely cruise around Penobscot and Muscungus Bay before returning to Portland two weeks later.
