Andy and list...

grabbed the lawn tractor battery off the cellar steps and set up the new Dual receiver on the kitchen table. Hooked up power and a set of speakers and began discovery.

The USB port DOES accept jump sticks with music on them. It didn't want to read a playlist dropped on one, but will read individual music files in the order they are put onto the jump stick. A lot of set-up options to explore, including a search and folders options.

Didn't want to read my MP3 player connected to the USB port. Display kept showing "Reading"--suspect the over 800 songs in albums choked it's access software. Was able to play it through the "AUX" connection--a 3.5 mm jack.

Played a CD as expected--very silent transport system.

Each sound source has a setting level to balance the sound out at the same volume level set. Has a sub-woofer output on RCA jacks on the back. Found a connection labeled "Remote In" so suspect that a wired remote may be an option on this chassis.

Unit I bought is in black trim, not white. The on/off is in the center of the volume control wheel. Glows red when off. All display button indicators come up in blue when turned on. Will look great when mounted at the nav station as I have blue rope lights for ambient night lighting.

Can't wait until the spring for installation to begin!

Dan, sounds like you are having a Merry Christmas! I don't know about the inferred remote-won't that need line of sight to make the connection?

Andy...

HO, HO, HO! Yes, despite having been downsized for Labor Day I am planning to have a very good Christmas! And with a new sound box I'm planning to have a nice sailing season too.

I can see the nav station and radio from the cockpit's companionway. It may mean getting up from the helm to make a change, but that's what the Autopilot's for. The unit does appear to have a wired remote connection on the back so that issue is solveable if need be.

Merry! Merry!
