Catalina 22 Folsom Lake
So that leads me to the question what obstacles have you had to overcome to change an ordeal into an adventure
Hey LakeShark, glad you are okay. My ordeal was just a bad start.
I haven't sailed much. I sold my half interest in a ski boat and for $500 bought a small, 1968 painted mahogany plywood 11' Penguin racing dinghy that I only took out a couple times. Had a completely horrific start on my last sail. March 18th of 2015, my friend co-worker, wood boat repair and sailing mentor, Chris sent me a text that morning saying that the sailing weather was fantastic at Folsom lake. All went well until I forgot to put the centerboard down as I pushed off from the dock. Realizing my mistake too late, I ended up dragging the rudder on the rocks, tried to push off with an oar, ended up jumping out to walk it into deeper water, but as I jumped back in, she heeled way over and took on a bunch of water. As I walked her to shore to empty the water, the wind caught the sail, capsizing the boat in two feet of water. It was about that time I thought I'd had enough when I realized I'd lost my zip-lock bagged car keys out of the pocket of my shorts. Then noticed my brand new, uninsured iPhone 6 was on my belt, saturated and powerless instead of in my truck, where I meant to leave it.
Thank goodness the water was clear. Chris spotted my keys in the baggie about 20 feet from shore, on the bottom, in 3 and a half feet of water.
I was relieved that I didn't have to ask my wife to drive an hour to the lake and bring me the second set of keys. Still need to put that hide-a-key on the truck. Chris encouraged me to sail across the lake and back. Best sailing I've had to date. Thank goodness the phone was able to be dried out and is still working to this day. Made this post with it. Chris took a bunch of pics and a short video.

Hope my first day on the C-22 goes a bit better.
