Hi fellow Lakes Region sailors. In a hard place here and calling on some help from my fellow area sailors. I went to take my 1973 O'Day 23 out of Winnisquam yesterday at Martells. They have lowered the water so much that I could not make it up the channel. I was told by the state this morning that it was down for some dam work and will actually start coming back up either Tuesday or Wednesday of this week and will be back to normal in about 10 days. Problem is that on this Friday (10/27/) I have to go into the hospital for reconstructive surgrey on my foot (shattered heel). This is my second surgrey this year alone. Since I will be laid up when the water raises back up, looking for some fellow sailors to help me. I have friends that are helping for sure, but none of them are "sailors" and would love some people with experience to help the nonexperience ones. The mast will have to come down once on the hard. The boat goes on a brand new 2005 Venture trailer and I pull it out with a Chevy 3/4 (just so you know we are not dealing with old crap here with lots of problems). We are looking to do this the weekend of November 4-5th (depending on weather, pick the best day). So, if anybody is up to helping for a couple of hours, that would be great!!
