During the installation of my VHF I needed to remove the inspection plates below both winches. The Starboard side nuts on the winch bolts were half un screwed and the port side was the same apart from one bolt missing the nut altogether. Might pay for you all to "check your nuts"!

Mark If your 260 is like my 240 the hardward is attached to a glassed in plate that is drilled and tapped for the bolt. not nut needed.

mark, Sean is correct. Do not worry as the bolts are drilled and tapped as there is a metal plate inlaid with the glass. I would rather have access to the underside in the event that some idiot drilled to large of a hole for the bolt and had to back plate it with a locking nut.

Yes it did appear a litle odd however why then the need for the nuts??
