Thanks, Gunni. That calms my nerves a bit. Less range or just a smaller hole in my forehead? :):):)

In light of the alleged cowboy behavior of the boat men, it means that the first thing they shoot will stop the round. Not so the 50 BMG. Stay safe boaters!

Point of Order: While that is a formidable gun kit on the foredeck of a Defender, it is not a 50cal, but rather a 30cal... 7.62cal gun.
50cal or 30 doesn't really matter when you're looking down the wrong end. It's a BIG DAMM HOLE!:eek::eek: I've seen one at close range on the day we weren't really listening to the VHF. I heard the "securite" call but assumed it was for Galveston and not Freeport. It seems my 37 foot 6 knot sailboat was a definite danger to the 100,000 ton LPG tanker coming in. Even though the CG was nice and professional about our stupidity, we decided we really didn't want to go sailing that day and headed back to the marina.

I checked my lines Thursday. Found two broken on the port stern. One was the forward spring (no snubber) and the other with snubber only had one of the three strands left. Granted they were old but something stressed them.
