The plastic clips that attach the mainsail to the plastic slides in the the mast on my 81 Hunter 30 are starting to give out and snap. I have been unable to find replacements at the major marine stores. Does anyone know if Hunter still supplies these? Or a vendor that may sell them?

Any sailmaker should have them

There should be a sailmaker near your marina or look in the yellow pages.

Slides, Slugs and shackles

West Marine is a good source. Sailrite.com and Sailnet.com have them also.

Use a few Stainless slides

I replaced 3 shackles and slides (top, middle and bottom) with stainless steel and the rest with new plastic ones on my H28. The stainless slides are very expensive but it is a good insurance policy. My bad experience was with 10 year old plastic shackles and slides all coming off during a jibe on a relatively calm day. The main just "unzipped" from the mast. It could have been a disaster if the wind was really blowing. Retrieving the head of the flogging main was not fun. Buddy Richardson Cowardly Lion H28
