I just installed a new shift cable and I'm having a tough time trying to find neutral position. When I do find neutral I have to be looking at the driveshaft to tell me that. It seems that neutral is a centain spot + or - 1/2 inch and the best way to see where you are is to leave the trans hatch open to see which way the shaft turns. Is the clutch or the tranny going or is there an adjustment?

Best Atomic-4 Site . . .

George, Yes, there is an adjustment for the transmission on the A-4. You can find out more at this web site: http://www.moyermarine.com This is also a must-see web site for Atomic 4 owners as Don Moyer is the World's leading A-4 Guru. Good Luck, Nick

A-4 adjustment

George, I have a book that describes adjusting the clutch/shifting on the A-4. I can copy the pages and snail mail them to you if that will help. Just need the address. John

Noise

George - I have the same problem sometimes - hard to tell if forward is still engaged. I go by the sound. The transmission should make a slight whine/rattle when in neutral. It is not the god-awful shriek of reverse gear (that we Atomic Bomb owners have come to know and love). The rattle/whine should go away when the engine engages forward gear, or increase substantially in reverse. That's how I can tell on my boat. Check out he webpages that are listed above, as well as www.geocities.com/atomfour/ Best of luck, and have fun! The adjustment mentioned in other posts is not hard at all. Rob
