Also, I'd be curious about the pricing you find. I looked into Beta and found Yanmar pricing to be lower, much to my surprise.

I had a Md7A in my 28 sabre 13 hp did just fine. 3 bladed prop hull speed 7 knots.

While i kind of see dumping the A4 for a reasonably modern diesel i really cant see swapping it for and equally archaic diesel that requires spare parts that coast a fortune
This swap also has so many hidden costs in fuel tanks , prop , prop-shaft, motor controls and on and on
Please note i pulled out my beat to death A4 and brought it back to life for a very reasonable amount of money and after 4 full seasons with a 44 year old A4 it continues to run fine
And we don't baby the A4 or have any fear of traveling far and wide
