Thanks to both of you for your guidance and information. At this stage I'm making her ready for long distance cruising. If you think this would be of any interest to other H27 owners I'll be glad to keep them posted. What do you think which forum is the best for that? Regards Oliver

Speaking for myself. . . .

I think this Cherubini forum would welcome the adventures of the H27. Most people on the Hunter Owner's site view "Most Recent Activity" so would still see your posts. Your other choice could be "Ask All Sailors" where sailors from all the "sailboatowners" sites would see your posts.

I aggree...

There was at one time a "Hunter's at sea" posting but I couldn't find it. I'm sure everyone on the Cherubini forum would love to hear about your preparations and your trip as it materializes. If you have Ham radio on board perhaps some of us can communicate with you and relay reports to the site as you make your passage. Be sure to ask opinions and read the archives on bluewater preps from those that have made passages in thier Cherubinis and be realistic in the boats short comings and resolve those so they don't become a problem in inclement conditions. I'm not familiar with the 27 but typical problems have been rudder attachment and bracing, chainplate failures, concern with plastic stock portlights and those types of issues. Jihn Vigor's book "The Seaworthy Sailboat" is a great reference for preping your boat for bluewater pasagemaking and evaluating it's capabilities before you start. Keep us informed on how you do!
