HOW Editorial

Next week is Sail Expo in Atlantic City. The full line of Y2K Hunters will be on display - including the new 320 and 290, but excluding the 450, according to Bill Bergin, owner of Sandy Hook Yacht Sales in New Jersey. The show runs January 20-23 at the Convention Center in Atlantic City. Call 401-841-0900 for further information, or contact Sandy Hook Yacht Sales through the Hunter dealer list on this web site. We'll look forward to reports and opinions on the 290 and and especially the new 320.

Photos Please

Anyone with a digital camera, please, please, please take some photos, an article on what you thought of the boat would be great also. I am thinking of upgrading to a 320, but havn't seen one and might be able to get to Miami to see the 320 there. Thanks in advance. Bruce. Neon Moon.

Hunter 290

I have purchased and taken delivery on a 2000 290 and want to write a review but the 290 is not a selection, only the 280 and 29.5. I have sailed it between Oct and Dec 1999, numerous times and was impressed wiht its pointing ability and its light wind speed. I would like to submit a review about the 290 but can't as it is not a selection

Just saw the 320

Just returned from day one of the Toronto Boat show and was on board both the new Hunter 290 and the new 320! I have a 29.5 and have been considering a next size up for some time. The 320 was VERY impressive in terms of cabin layout and cockpit accomodations. I'll write more later but by far the best feature of the 320 was the "loss" of that stupid looking fiberglass arch having been replaced by a much cleaner looking and significantly more functional stainless steel version. Not ugly at all and still allows for sheeting of the boom on a traveller above the cockpit. Base boat was $113,000 Canadian which is about $35 US dollars!! these days so expect lots of sales (sails?). Excellent first impressions

FYI... for the model year 2000 all the glass arches are being switched over to steel. When you have a moment please fill us in on the 320 details. Thanks! we're still waiting on an early copy of the brochure and will try to get pix online asap. ph.

Cleveland too!

Sorry Atlantic City. We were on the 290, 320, 340, and 410 last Friday evening. Monday night it's back to go on the 460. Also want to compare with the IP and Sabre that are there. Our marina also had a Tartan 3500 and C&C 110. The C&C is lots of boat for the money. The 320 and 290 were similar in head layout(320 aft/port, 290 aft/strbrd). Shower and head all-in-one naturally. Both had one-hole sinks and two-burner propane stoves with oven. The 290's propane locker was a funny box in the aft/port locker. Both had nice aft berths but they are still "sideways". There were three engine accesses that I saw, remove the ladder, panel on portside of companionway, and panel behind the engine in aft cabin. The 290 had one battery under strbrd settee and the battery switch was mounted on outside of settee, right about where you would sit at the nav station. Bilges were very short and shallow. Cockpits were wide and open. Loved the stainless arches. One, the 340 I think, had the optional welded on mounts for a bimini frame that extended both forward and aft with no other supports. I couldn't see how to roll up the canvas or fold the frame. Opened the bilge panel in the aft cabin of the 410 and was looking right at the dripless shaft seal! Quite a difference from my H37C. I have the brochure but there really isn't any more there than you will find on the Hunter web-site.
