I've checked all of the threads but am still unclear on what is the right substitute for Transmission fluid for a Hurth Trans. in a C-270. Is it Dexron III ? I've gotten different answers from parts stores. Thanks in advance if you can help!

Ken You can use either, but never mix the two. Dexron III is just the newest. Make sure you completely drain your old fluid, and then use whatever you have (Ford (ATF) or Dexron). Most recommend that the fluid be pulled out of the TOP of the housing,because there's either a crush washer at the bottom which needs replacement or there is a stainless plug in the aluminum housing at the bottom. I apologize for forgetting which it is, but I use a syringe with a hose to pull out the old fluid from the top. Some use a turkey baster with a hose. It's not that hard. Stu
