Asymmetrical Spinnaker size for h34

I'll be sailing an H34 on the Chesapeake this summer and, from experience, feel a real need for an asymmetrical spinnaker or genneker. Does anyone have the maximum size for the luff, leach, and foot? Without a spinnaker halyard, what alteration needs to be done to a spare jib halyard to assure it does not chafe at the mast top? Has anyone bought a spinnaker and had it re-cut for one of these non-pole sails? Any recommendations on weight, material, and cost to modify appreciated. Any tips for single-handed launching/retrieval?

I don't fly any form of spinny on my H34 but there is provision at the top of the masthead to add a block outside of the forestay/furler connection so that you could rig a simple halyard to haul up a Chute Scoop with a decent sized asym. A tack block at the bow pulpit/anchor plate base and a blocks on the rail would give you a simple rigging.

A "normal" July or August would see the most need for light air sails downwind. But, given the heat and humidity, most of us just motor instead. Slow and sweat or generate some cooling apparent wind--will be your choice! LOL! But if you're from Florida you already know that! :dance:

has anyone tried a topdown furler on the h34. it seems to me the setup would be great for a code 1 or "0" when things get light down wind. roll it up and use the 106 upwind, no crew needed. there becoming very popular in the mediterranean.

Whatever you do I suggest you stay away from the Doyle UPS. It's basicly a fuling code 0. More pain than gain. I say this from experience.
