We are looking at installing an asymmetrical furling spinnaker on a Marlow Hunter 37 and looking for ideas how to mount the tack by building a custom sprit. If there are Marlow Hunter 37 owners that have designs to share would love to hear from you what worked or didn't work well. Thanks!

Yes thanks for this tip - but it won't work and allow access to our anchor locker
In the installations I have seen, it would typically go over the anchor locker when in use but can be slid out of the forward ring and stowed in chocks to the side of the locker or even farther aft along the rail when not in use.

I have also seen one make to be pinned to each side of the bow with a bob-stay to hold it down. Here is a photo I found of the concept. There is a company that makes them out of carbon fiber and I have seen several home made versions.

Haydens idea is a viable option. The carbon fiber design is strong enough. The bob stay is adjustable.

You will need one of the torsion top-down furlers. They are not cheap. I like the design functions of the Harken system.

I run an asymmetrical on my boat, using a tacker and a sock to launch and retrieve the sail. It works very efficiently, and the sail does not have problems back-winding on itself.

Here she is in about 7-9 knots of winds. I just launched the sail for the first time.

Not great pics but the best I have and they may give you an insight as to how this 2014 MH37 was rigged for a top down furler. I do know the bow sprit was custom made and as you can see it has a small bobstay attached to the bow.

@stormh37 I sent you a PM with some details about the boat’s owner. You maybe able to get in touch with him as his bow sprit was designed, fabricated and installed in Vancouver.
