Is it possible to use an asymetrical spinnaker and a 150 genoa with a wisker pole when sailing downwind? (Wing on wing) I do not have a traditional spinnaker and was wondering if this is possible? Comments...
You can fly wing-wing with the ASM and genoa. Bring your main to centerline, or reef, or drop completly, to keep the wind shadow down. I haven't found a racing rule prohibiting both the sails up at the same time, but you can't us a pole on the genoa with a spinnaker set. I played with this on my 356, and it lifts the bow way up and the boat flys DDW. Send the crew forward to balance the boat...Steve
Paul; the asym spinny and genny combo is very efficient downwind. Steve is right, it's illegal to race with, but if you're cruising, it's downwind horsepower.
