Hi All
Does any one has the measurements of an asymetrical spinnaker for a Benneteau 40 cc 1996?, I also need a spinnaker pole and the track for this boat. Any info apreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The dims for an asym for any boat will vary depending on how you plan to use it, and if you will use a sock. Best to talk to a sailmaker if that's not clear. They will measure and cut based on your needs and sailing conditions. For instance, a sail intended to help you sail deep in more breeze will be cut and sized much differently then a sail designed for light air reaching. All purpose (AP) sails are in the middle.

Why do you need a pole with your asym? That's typically used on for symmetric kites.

Completely agree that 99% of the time you don;t need a pole with the asym. OTOH we do have a wisker pole and, dead downwind, wing on wing, wioth the asym poled out is a very stable and quick configuration for us. YMMV

No pole for an asymmetrical spinnaker. Hence no mast track.
You have a tack line from the tack to the cockpit, a halyard and sheets. The tack is also attached to the forestay and if you have a furler, then you use an ATM tacker. Or, you can add a sprint (Selden Mast has them for retrofit) and then you don't need to attach it to a forestay.

Here's the 'generic' dimensions for the Bene40 http://sailritesails.com/Search.aspx?searchterm=beneteau+40 There's lots of various 40ft. Benes so choose carefully from the data.

Example:
BENETEAU FIRST 405 ASYMMETRICAL
Luff 51.55*ft (15712mm)
Foot 24.47*ft (7458mm)
Leech 47.43*ft (14456mm)
Perc LP 165*
Area 946*ft2 (87887mm2)

Nothing wrong in using a spinn pole attached to the tack to fly an aysmmetrical ... especially for sailing more 'downwind' than the usual off wind ~135° max., the point of downwind sailing at which most 'general purpose' asymmetrical spinnakers become blanketed by the mainsail.

Whisker or spinnaker pole will work - you won't need a track but can fasten to the mast with and 'eye'. Obviously that won't allow you to raise the pole at the mast. Topping lift and down haul would be nice and especially the latter since the sail will have a tendency to pull the pole up

A key question to ask the sailmaker or someone that has used this configuration is the length you'll need the pole. I believe whisker poles are
shorter that spinnaker poles. Also remember when flying a standard spinnaker downwind the pole covers only half of the sail. Ergo the pole may not be long enough to meet your W on W needs for a asymetrical.

Also before you go through the trouble check the polars for your boat. Our 423 goes a lot faster at 150 AWA then 180. So even in races our preference is to go broad reach vs dead downwind. Also when we're cruising anything aft of 130 and we'll go under asymetrical alone - that keeps the main from blocking the sail.
