Well guys.... my 2014 sailing epic adventure took a few knocks in the head....
We launched from Oriental North Carolina on Monday from the city ramp. The plan was to meet my crew at Whittaker Point Marina... they drove ahead with the truck and trailer.
I left the ramp under power and motored under the bridge and then my engine quit and would not start up. I had not bent my sails yet. We drifted to a private pier... got permission to stay the night ... got in touch with the rest of our crew... and got a hotel room for the night.
Next day, we found a mud daubler had made a nest in my fuel line. Go figure. Got that straightened out and were off by mid-day tuesday.
Got set at anchor by 4:00 in a tributary of the Neuse river (South River) and had a great evening (see pics).
Next day Arthur got up graded to something more serious so we decided to pull anchor and book out of there. Got back on the trailer and headed to Washington NC hoping to put the boat back in the water once "tropical storm" Arthur passed... but this morning it got upgraded again.
So we are back home now.... It was supposed to be 10 days on the water and got only one night. Kind of a bummer but it was an adventure anyway.
