Situation this time: Not connected to shore power. Started engine from the house bank, #1 on the battery selector switch. (only because I forgot to switch to "All" before I started the engine) Arrive back at home dock, plug in shorepower, check voltmeter, notice that #2 bank is charging away, #1 bank is around 12.6V (analog meter...) This is odd, I check the fuses and the fuse for #1 is blown and the fuse for #2 looks like it got real hot but did not melt. Any suggestions or comments as to what is going on?

Xantrex indicates 2 things

1) There could be a voltage leak back thru the charger. Suggested I test this by turning charger off. Let batteries settle for a while, 20-30 min, Put battery switch in #1 position, put load on system (lights, etc). Check voltage on #2 battery. If voltage drops on #2, I need to check if any of the circuits used to create the load are connected #2 battery. If there are none there is a leak back through the charger. 2) The internal charger current limit may be set a bit high so suggested trying a 30A fuse if the the above does not appear to be the case. I detailed the wiring specs, length of runs etc and the tech felt confident that wire size (#10) and length of runs (total<2 ft per battery) would be no problem for 30A.
