I am planning to head down to Florida this friday and once down in port charlotte I will be looking to do some local sailing ( if any body in charlotte harbor need crew or just show me the area I am more than willing to supply lunch and some beers) I'll be spending the next three months in Florida. I'll be back in Greenport in spring. Nick

read, talk, plan or go sailing

Winter in mid Canada has settled in for the long haul, and the only reprieve is to read about sailing, talk about sailing, or plan about sailing, short of taking a winter trip and actually GOING sailing. So, indeed the video's help. I hit a couple of sailing forums each evening, and catch up on the antics and woes of the rest of you, pipe in when I think I have something to contribute, and work on my 'to do' list for the spring. Finally we are planning a trip to Cuba this month. I know that may be a touch polictical for some of you, but we do have that option that is available to us in Canada. I mean no offence to anyone in stating that. :) And yes, I plan to do some sailing down there as I have done in the past. We will be straight south of Key West so not that far from some of you southern sailers. I guess that is how most of us northern sailers handle the down season.

Warm? It was 28 degrees

here in Weeki Wachee today! Too cold to go sailing. It will only get up to 50 today. Warmer later in the week and then we will be sailing again. I forgot how miserable cold can be. You all can keep that cold stuff up there. The next person that tells me about global warming I will punch in the nose!

woke up to frost on the punkin...

Yeah, it was a little brisk here in Tampa last night. Thermometer was hovering close to freezing at midnight when I hit the rack last night. Made me almost want to put socks on. Hoping for nicer weather this weekend. Ross in Tampa 1979 Oday 25 "Lola"

Went sailing

I went sailing New Year's day. On The Monterey Bay (Central Coast of California) it was 65 degrees, flat seas and 8-10 knots of breeze.

Went Sailing this Weekend

Saturday was cooler about 50 with a few rain showers. My wife was great as usual and heated me up soup and coffee to warm us from the inside out. Sunday was much better but gusty!!!! Cloudy but no rain and warmer. It felt strange but we would have alterating warm and much cooler wind. I guess that the warm stuff was blowing off the land. We saw the sun a couple of times and he said that he is heading back north and that every day would be a little longer until about june 22. That is great news as I am tired of short cool days. I think that we might have sailed the boat it's fastest in our hands. Broad reaching with the 160 and no reef in about 15-20 knots. Cleaned most of the slime off of the hull!!!
