Are you aware of ths FCC action. Is your on-board router approved?

Thanks for the info.... but it looks like existing routers are grandfathered in...

to quote the first line of the article... "The FCC just banned new foreign-made consumer Wi-Fi routers. "

From farther down in the document:
"The FCC is explicit: existing routers are completely unaffected, no action required. Firmware and security updates are allowed to continue through at least March 1, 2027. Existing authorized models currently on shelves can still be purchased."

Yep, nothing to worry about for any current equipment or any models that already got certified.

If I understand the ruling correctly foreign made routers can not be sold in the US unless certified. It doesn't say anything about using them. This kind of action is not unusual. A few years ago Huawei devices were banned because of the company's connection to the Chinese Government.

Presumably, if they are not certified, they cannot be sold in the US. Thus one cannot buy and use them going forward. Otherwise, the article was clear that all existing routers now in the US distribution chain are fine to buy and use, as well as any router bought in the past.
