That livaboards can stay that are away from the big tourist scene and are reaonably priced? I am looking for a small town type marina that is layed back. do these still exsist? and how many and how much .is the cost of living there exspencive?.Wes
There is a mooring area there. The cost is $55.00/month. That includes mail and garbage. Yes showers and water cost but living doesn't get much cheaper. There are people that stay there year round.The bar maids are mostely women that are on moorings andmost of them have good advice as to how to moor in that tricky basin. r.w.landau
as sheltered as it gets ... some dockage and marinas, some of the canal homes rent out bulkhead space. Lots of shallow water ... but still a good mooring area. A red neck town compared to Key West ... if you know what I mean. Airport, Home Depot, Publics, Winn Dixie, etc. Good fishing nearby, easy cross over to the gulf of Florida. I could retire there. Vic

Thats right $55.00/month/boat. If there is a mooring you can use it but most of the time you have to anchor. There is a little bar that gets a bit crazy at hapy hour, and food is about a mile away. Taxis are easy to get if you walk to the store andtaxi provisions back. If you head out to Sombrero reef, there is some of the best snorkling/scuba diving. Make sure you ask the locals about the regs on the reef. r.w.landau
