I have been troubleshooting my speed instrument for some time now. Bought a new transducer, checked all the wiring and connectors and the only thing left is the actual digital instrument. It is an Autohelm (Raymarine) ST50 Plus. I have the whole package, wind, speed, depth GPS, chartplotter, and radar. I fear that the speed instrument is ka-put and don't know what to do next other than replace it but they have since come out with ST60. Does anyone know where to buy old instruments or does Raymarine repair ? Thanks.

try repair or..

You can try getting Raymarine to look at it, but I have a feeling it may be "too old to service". Don't worry though, I'm in basicaly the same boat. I've had good luck searching EBay. When some folks upgrade to the newer system, they often sell their old stuff there. Not only can you find what you're looking for, but often at a decent price.

When My Autohelm ST-50 Went Kaput

I shopped Ebay for quite a while and got frustrated at the prices folks were willing to pay for a used ST-50 depth. They were going for well over $125. I finally purchased a Raymarine ST-40 depth for $195 from Spindoc Electronics online about a year ago. The previous owner of my boat mounted (encased) the old ST-50's transducer in a mound of 3M 5200 and it was impossible to remove. Even though my ST-40 came with a transducer, I was able to use my old transducer on my new ST-40.I found Spindoc Electronics on one of the online shopping comparison websites like Shop.com. They were one of the best prices. I was very satisfied with my purchase. BrianW
