I will most likely be moving my ComPac-23/3 from its present location on Galveston Bay to Colorado when I retire and move back to my Littleton home sometime next year. I currently have a Tohatsu 2-stroke that is getting on in years and will need replacement before too long. I am assuming that I will need a 4-stroke on Colorado waters for environmental reasons (and my own preference) but just wanted confirmation from Colorado sailors. A related question: do small carburated outboads (8 or 9.9 hp) need special jets or carb adjustments to function properly at Colorado altitudes? I will keep the boat at either Chatfield or Dillon - haven't decided yet. I suspect I can get a better deal on a new motor here along the Gulf Coast but will it need substantial modification to work at 5,000 to 9,000 ft? Thanks for any help.
