Aquasignal Series 25 Light Wiring

I installed a new AquaSignal series 25 anchor light on my mast. The previous one was burned up and the lens was no longer clear. Its range was probably more like 2 nautical feet instead of miles (if it worked.) The new one had the terminals clearly marked + and - so I wired it as such.

The mast head / steaming light was in the same condition so I replaced it as well with an Aquasignal series 25. However, no markings were on the terminals indicating a + or - side. There was no difference in the terminals either. They appear exactly the same. I am assuming there is no difference in which wire I put on the terminal. But I wanted to run a "sanity check" first.

The bow and stern lights are next on my list. Since I have not seen them I don't know if they have spearate terminals or if it matters on them yet.

Gotcha. That is how I did the steaming light. Just wired it up, BUT I wired the deck plug the same way for +/- based on wire color.

I did notice that. I pulled out what appeared to be the original sink light and replace it with an LED. The original had no cover, the plastic base was crumbling and the bulb was fused into the socket. I added another LED (daisy chained to the sink light) in the head. They were clearly marked as red for+ and black as - on the package. I have been rewiring and using black for negative for everything to stay consistent. Those LED's are nice and pull a lot less from the battery.

I may eventually replace the nav lights with LED, but for now, I will spend my $ on some other improvements. The LED nav lights are a little pricey. I did find a website that sold the LED's that plug into the old style nav lights...but for now I will stay with the standard bulb for NAV.

Have you (or anyone else) used these in the NAV lights? How do they hold up and are they bright enough?

I've had good luck so far with the LED replacement's from Mastlight for about $25 each for my Aqua Signal 25's. Nice and bright for the anchor light. They recommend the warm white for the bow running light. They are slightly dimmer than the cool white but are still as bright or brighter than the incandescent bulbs. I'm on my 3rd season which includes unstepping the mast each season and moving the boat 50 miles for storage each year. They've held up under the vibration and abuse of traveling down the road.
