A beast to tow
You can figure on the total weight of your tow package (boat, gear, trailer) to be about 5000 lbs. This is why water ballast boats are popular.

I tow mine
I tow my "78" 23 with my Ford Escape. I don't go fast and I don't go far. About 20 miles twice a year. Pulling it up the ramp, I use all wheel drive. Otherwise, I pull in drive gear not in overdrive. I keep it under forty and it works fine.

What kind of SUV?
I tow my '82 with a 6-cylinder Jeep Grand Cherokee. Boat & trailer & "stuff" is getting close to max capacity for the 6-cyl Jeep but I have towed over 200 miles at a shot. The V-8 Jeep, with its 6,500lb towing capacity, would make life a lot easier - Maybe next season.
