It has always been said that one should minimize the weight one puts in the ends of a sailing vessel. As there are few places one can put the anchor and rode other than the bow and chain locker, that is most often a given, and hopefully designed into the boat. However, a dinghy on davits will make some to a considerable difference to a vessel's sailing characteristics, especially on a smaller boat.
On a 25 footer, I should think you'd want to keep any dinghy on davits to the lowest weight possible, no where near the davits' maximum.

Thanks for your reply, your view on how things should be done in your opinion is valued.

However, still looking for factual info on orignal question.

You would have to contact the davit manufacturer. Each installation will be different. It would be very unusual to see davits on a 25 foot boat.

I don’t think the 250 came with davits ...so it could be a custom build. @Crazy Dave Condon used to be a Catalina dealer so he may chime in. You may have to use your best judgment ...

Responding to private message I suggested calling Catalina direct and factory. I suggested looking at the Catalina 250 owners forum untested to SBO. As a former dealer I never saw nor heard of davits on this boat. Suggested contact @ gosenbach who asked the same question some time back and to call or contact davit builders. The factual information is that it is a badly formulated question. First of all it presupposes that there are davits available in the market intended for the Catalina 250 MKII. The manufacturer of universal davits that could be adapted for use in the Cat 250 may only advise as to the strength of their product and not the platform to where it may be affixed to. I doubt Catalina could provide any data to support any opinions on this matter. I very often go to the hardware store looking for things that do not exist.
