Just lately when my fresh water tank gets low bits of black stuff come through the tap. Any ideas??

Time to recomission the whole system...
I've posted the directions for doing that so many times that a search using keywords "Fresh water" should turn up several copies. If it doesn't, I'll post 'em again.

Peggy, you will get a laugh at this. When I first bought my first boat, I never had a problem with the water system. Small capacity but never had a problem. Actually it was filled with home made mountain tastin peach brandy but not the old rock gut. Use to play card with the local sheriff and prosecutor and got lit telling those stories I guess. Could not remember that part but again never had a problem until the day the Mrs. found out and raised heck with me. Then regular water and the other associated problems

You didn't say that your fresh water system is brand new...that would have been very helpful...'cuz in a whole new system--including all the plumbing--those black flecks are far more likely to debris than the "stuff" that grow in the lines in as little as one season. In THAT case, all that should be needed is a thorough flushing out of the whole system. Sheesh...(walking off mumbling to myself...never mind WHAT I'm mumbling....)
