Thanks to the boat yard I no longer have an apparent wind indicator. Does anybody know where i can find a replacement Vane for the Stowe apparent wind indicator. I think its part of the original equipment on my 1980 H 27.

The first question : is the horrizontal mast head bracket still up there ? if so: the verticle threaded end bar will screw into it, if not, when you go up the mast use a short belted boswain's chair so when you reach the top of the mast, you can SEE the top of the mast, to screw in the new complete assy.

if they broke it, they should fix it - why are you letting them off the hook. I've seen enough hauling contracts to know thatsome judicious complaining should resolve this farily quickly

Stubborn boat yards

I had this happen to me many years ago. The crane operator at PCHM (in Toronto) dropped my mast overboard during spring mast stepping. The only damage, aside from a few interesting curves in the roller furling extrusion, was that my Windex disappeared. I spent the entire summer complaining and demanding a replacement for the Windex, and finally they gave me a used indicator of a different brand, that didn't even fit into the Windex base at the masthead. I still have it, several boats later, as a humourous reminder of marina mangement attitudes. I find a yacht club a more friendly environment. Bob.
