I imagine there are numerous folks making trips from Grand Portage to Isle Royale by kayak. It's about a 15 mile crossing from the tip of Pigeon Point to the island. 15 miles may not sound like much, but I know I'd swallow very hard before attempting even that trip. I gulped making the 2 mile crossing in an open boat from Grand Portage to the Susie Islands many years ago!

The NPS and the USCG are not excited about kayaks going around the big points... Pigeon Pt, Houghton Pt, Blake Pt etc. There can be zero room for error.

I want to thank you all for helping the economy by taking the quarters out of service. It is a $0.25 gift to the treasury. We just need more folk to grab their treasures and save them.
Granted it is not much but every bit helps.

If everyone would get together and collect all 50 states. What’s that $12.50. Less than a ticket to the Star Wars movie. That would be a $ 4,125,000,000 gift to the treasury. We could put a tiny dent in the National debt. Like a pin Hole in the dike.

If that true? It's still currency, so no matter where it is, even if its part of the US$10B that is 'out of circulation' AKA 'in your couch', the treasury still accounts for it.

I just pulled out 3 quarters in my pocket featuring Arkansas, Connecticut, Rhode Island. I've often thought about making a collection to see if I can find one for each state. My interest is renewed. Now, my attention is drawn to the America the Beautiful collection. A new goal! A loon is featured in Voyageurs N.P. in Minnesota.
Has anybody collected all these quarters?
I have all 50 states in P and D series. (Well, except for 2 D series states. Arkansas is one and I can’t recall the other right now.) Lots of national park quarters, too.

I'm not sure how the Treasury Dept is helped, per say, but reducing the amount of circulating money in the overall economic pool has a tendency of lowering or at least slowing inflation. Other than that. I don't see how the Treasury Department benefits. If inflation is lowered too much by the loss of commemorative currency, it's nothing for the Treasury to make it up with more product. It just means more tax dollars are spent on materials, overtime, distribution, etc. That will actually contribute to inflation. Because moving money faster is as good as printing more money. Both equal an increase in spending => inflation.
