Anybody know anything or have some experience with Apollo Diesel Generators. I had been looking at Fisher Pandas specifically the 4 KW model for installation on our 376 (given that we can fit the money in our budget) .....then saw an advertisement on Apollos out of Costa Mesa Calfornia....which is half the price of a Fisher (including the sound insulated cover). They are sending me some specs by mail but over the phone, their generator sounded pretty good, specifically their 4KW model. They are using a Kubota diesel engine, freshwater cooled. The generator measures 30"L X 16"W X 16"H....the sound enclosure measures on the outside 32" L X 18" W X 16 " H. Anybody have any information...good or bad ....would be appreciated.

fischer panda - 4kw

i have the panda 4 kw genset on my 40.5, and am very pleased with it....it is more expensive, but based on my research it is the lightest and quietest of all the gensets...plus the sine wave interfaces well with the heart inverter/charger

Fisher Panda

I also have a 4 kw Panda installed in my 40.5. It is a very good genset. I have just ordered a New 460 and it will also have a Panda a little larger. You will be Happy with your purchase of a Panda.

Panda - Will it fit?

I have also been looking at gensets. Hunter used a Phasor which I think uses the Kubota engine, but it was modified to make it's height less in order for it to fit in the port side lazarette. Hunter bought them from Southeastern Power at (954) 979-5899. I'll be glad to share the info I have gotten, just e-mail me. Have you determined if the Panda will even fit in the locker? It looks awful close to me, even without the sound shield. Doug s/v Tenacious h376

Better Generator ,less weight and cost

We installed a entec west 4.5 kw genset on our passage 42 three years ago (245 hours on it now). This genset is manufactured in portland oregon and is made up with a ferryman german diesel with a water cool appature to generate a.c. power. The genset is 17" wide 20" high and 22" long and comes in a sound shield that is made of stainless steel( very quiet). The genset will produce 35 amps of power. We are able to run our hot water tank, water maker (with 2 hp motor)and washer dryer at the same time. After a lot of searching we settled on this genset because of space requiremnts, weight and price. The other gensets that we checked out were either way to expensive v.s. power produced or were to noisey. We have found that by haveing a genset and inverter that we have the best of all worlds. Hope this helps good luck.
