I am thinking about replacing my old instruments with Garmin the GWS10 the GMI 10 diaplay and the Triducer. and later hooking it up to a Chartplotter 720s. Does anyon have experience with this setup?
Thanks
Keith

Keith, I am also considering the same setup and connecting to my 3206s. Use the GWS10 to display the wind and use the MFD to display speed, depth and temp.

You know resellers are offering that as a bundle. The part number is 010-00747-01. I have seen prices less than $1000 but will wait to spring to see if they drop any more. Maybe get it thru a boat show special.

It supports both NMEA 2000 and 0183. I will use the 0183 to connect to my chart plotters and later I can expand on the 2000 network if I like.

Next week West marine is haveing a sale an extra $50.00 off a purchase over $XX not sure except the bundle qualifies. Also they price match. I have just been reading some more about this and they sound like good easy to use and install instruments. We are on the hard in Lake Michigan so I won't be installing for a few minths but will post if/when I do. Good Luck let us know how your install goes if you do it.

Never got my triducer to work, now nothing one works. When the wind direction worked, I had to replace the windvane twice ( $40 each at Amazon) To sell parts on Amazon there must be a good volume.

If I had it to do over, I would not buy Garmin.

The triducer uses NMEA 2000. The display power comes from the 0183 so you need both.

I just added a GWS 10 to my boat. It is hooked up to my Garmin GPSMAP 421s Chart Reader. I like it, it is a good unit. My boat has an un-steppable mast, so I had to make a NMEA2000 connection at the tabernacle. My chart-reader gives me Depth, Speed Over Land and Direction of Travel, the GWS gives me Wind Speed and Direction.

I have read posts that if you do not snap the wind vanes on completely, they will work themselves lose and fall off. Just follow the directions and make sure they are fully seated.

Re: Grmin GWS 10

Even if you snap them on correctly, they dissapear.

You do not need both to use this instrument stand alone or if your other connections are nmea 2000.

Last I knew nmea 0183 does not support any type of power feed.

GWS10 will connect to gpsmap 3206 via nmea 0183. It will connect to the transducer and wind vane via nmea 2000.
