I see lots of posts concerning 26 footers and 25s, but never any 26.5s. How many of us are there on this forum?
I ask because I have a question or two concerning our running backstays, shroud tension and things of that nature. Plus, I've never met another 26.5 on the water.

There are 97 of us in the directory! The 26.5 is a GREAT boat!! Although not as easy to trailer as the H26, 260 or 25.
I use a loos guage and set shrouds to 15 - 20% of breaking strength.

It is interesting that only one 26.5 owner has responded. I found 105 entries in the Owners Directory, a real surprise because I never see any posts re. the H26.5.

Might be the right boat for my small lake summer sailing. I sold the C-22. A fun boat but too small for overnighting at the yacht club after too much rum. The Highlander is great fun but our club only has cruiser races. So I'll go check the PHRF.

That's why I posted. It gets lonely 'round here.

Please let me know what the rating is.

Yea I have a 26.5 and I really do not have an answer to any of .your concerns. But I do have a question for you? Does your H26.5 have a roller furling on it, and if it does did you aquire the boat with one already on it when you bought it?

It came with roller furling. Works great. The foil has two slots so changing sails while underway isn't a problem.

I have a 26.5 which I sail on Lake Michigan out of Muskegon. I have never used a guage when adjusting the stays, have always gone by feel. I installed an Alado furler 2 years ago and wished I had done it alot sooner. It has been a great boat for single handing but would be cramped with any more then 2 people.

I agree, which is why I added the stern rail seats sold on this website. (Visible in photo, on lower left) Now I can accomodate 4 folks while sailing. The only drawback to this model is its schizophrenia. It's a daysailer-cruiser wannabe. Oh, but she's fast for her specs.
