Hello,
I had issues with my furler this year, which is a Hood 707SL. I spoke to Hood (Pompanette) and they recommended pulling the drive unit and shipping it to them for bearing replacement. I was wondering how to remove it.
Hood sent me the installation manual, but it's not intuitive on how to install it, so reversing the process is not intuitive either. I planned on using one of my halyards and connect it to the bowsprit, then winch it down to support the mast. Then disconnect the stay from the bowsprit and work on disconnecting the drum from the foil, but I really don't understand how it's built, and if the stay would clear the drum.
Any advice or experience would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Snoopy
