Anyone put Idasailor rudders on a 26X?

I just bought new ida ruders. They wouldn't fit inside the brackets! A big let down as I didn't take my old rudders with me. What do I do? Send them back? By the way, I thought the Ida rudders extended a couple of inches underneath the boat. Are there any rudders like this?

I don't know anyone else who knows as much about rudders, dboards and centerboards than Joel at IdaSailor. He is also one of the nicest guys and stands behind his product. Idasailor x rudders won't fit

Jib, I have shopped Idasailor for new rudders for my x too. Their rudders are for the newer boats that have SS fittings, not aluminum like yours and mine. Won't fit, and they say so. Maybe they will get the message and design some if enough people ask for them. I have heard that the SS brackets are pretty expensive. It might be best to have some new ones built for your new rudders. Good luck!

The rudder brackets on the back of my '02 Mac are stainless. I contacted Ida and they said they only had one complaint like mine. They suggested sanding by hand or send them back. They would pay shipping (nice folks). I decided to do it myself since I was anxious to get in the water. I used my router and a coarse file. It took me three hours on the first one. Trial and error fit. You know. They said they would pay me for my time. They want me to help them correct their specs. Will put finished specs here.
