Anyone now what these port hull hardware are?

Ladder quick connections.
Does no good if you are in the water and didn't put the ladder on first.
I would advise a fixed mounted ladder.

I have some slotted hardware on my port side. Can anyone tell me what there for?
I'm pretty sure that those are called fender locks. They are a fender accessory for hanging off the boat fenders. Most people hang their fenders off by tying them to the lifelines, but where you don't have lifelines on your boat, the PO mounted these to the hull. The other half of this lock is an eye type fitting that goes into these slotted receptacles in which the fender rope is tied to.

I don't know, but can hazard a couple of guesses:

1. I second the swim laddder idea, or

2. perhaps to attach a gangplank to make boarding form the dock easier for the wee ones (kids).

That's probably what it is then. I'd rather have a permanent folding ladder on the stern, myself.
