I have already stripped the hardware and need to start sanding. Should I spray sand or hand sand? Anyone know of good primer/paint that I should use? Where should I go to get it?
Also, would it be easier to separate the cabin top from the hull first before gutting the boat to paint? I saw that Joe did an awesome job, does anyone know what Joe knows?

If you want to see what I did to my 77 V222 check out my profile. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm no expert, but enjoyed fixing up my boat.

That would be great

I would appreciate some guidance. What was the best way you figured out to start repainting? did you have to take the entire cabin top off?

pop top

I did not remove the cabin top from the hull. The rub rail was in good condition. I did ,after painting caulk the gap in the rail/hull joint with white roofing (butyl rubber).

Prep, prep,prep

Lots of sanding and filling. I used marine tex for the small holes and imperfections. Fiberglass matting and resin for the big stuff. Cleaned with paint thinner and tack cloths. Primed with Pedit (spelling) primer, two coats then Used Easypoxy for the final coats. Roll and tip meathod. Two coats. Top and bottom since the boats stays on the trailer. Never in the water more than two days.
