Earlier this year, I learned about a mysterious stock of 5/16" New England Rope Salsa in a red/white/blue color. Salsa is a really nice blended single braid line that runs through sheaves really well, and is very nice on the hands. I bought some from Layline for jib sheets. You can see a pic attached to this post.

The other standard colors of Salsa tend towards ugly, in my opinion, because they mix other traces of color into the main strands of the braid. Even so, the RWB is, shall we say, colorful on my little cruiser, so I wanted to put 3/8" RWB Salsa on my mainsheet, to kinda balance things out a little bit.

Layline thought they would be able to get 3/8" RWB, but it doesn't appear they will be buying at this time. I spoke with New England Ropes, and they can make this happen if Layline will buy a 600' spool.

If you are interested in getting some of this 3/8", please respond to this post or email me directly off-list. Please include what length you will commit to buy, and I will follow up with Layline. You will be purchasing from Layline, but if I can demonstrate enough demand, NER can help us make this happen.

If we don't make this happen, I'll have to default to the grey multi-colored Salsa for my mainsheet. Don't make me buy grey!

Thanks,
Brian

PS - 5/16" RWB Salsa is still available...

Salsa is good line. Good strength, low stretch, and soft. I'll back up about going around blocks because I bought it for my outhaul on the 356. It became a great dingy painter because I neglected to find out if my stopper would hold it. It didn't. I had downsized to take advantage of its strength. Damn.
Sorry I can't join in. The 356 is someone's else's baby now.

do you know off hand how much the 3/8 is? We purchases a bunch of 3/8 DSK-75 Race PC- maffioli (expensive!!) and it's a disaster. Really really stiff and not at all what we thought we were getting. We sadly removed it and put back the old crummy jib sheets but want to get something good to replace. We need 80 ft.

Luz, I don't know how much this will cost. It all depends if we can get enough people to commit, and convince Layline (or another retailer) to purchase a 600' spool.

I'm not sure what's going on, but Layline's site no longer has any Salsa listed. APS is currently selling stock 3/8" Salsa for $1.90, and their price is about mid-level from my internet searches. I have been discussing this with Layline for several months now, so we'll see how it shakes out. If I can get 300' confirmed, I suspect we can get someone to work with New England Ropes for us...
