NOPE

Lance, I have not heard from either one of them, nor anyone in that area. Very little information coming out from anywhere south of Houston. I think it is pretty bad down there, and probably there is not power, and very possibly no cell phone service. After Katrina it was several days before we had either one here. I have been hoping and praying that they and their boats are all OK, but I am worried about them.

Hi all

I evacuated to Austin in a hurry. I was fat dumb and happy in my shop working on some tables I was building and the forecast was that Ike was to hit 200 miles or so south of me. Later on that evening, I looked on the internet and it showed the storm path to hit only 50 miles south of me. We went back to the shop and raised some stuff off the floor. Then came back to the boat and started making ready in a half hearted attempt still thinking it would not hit here. I woke up at 3:30am looked at the weather and saw we were at ground zero.
I woke up the admiral and told her that we are now under evac. orders. I lashed the main and mizzen with a marline hitch which worked real well under hurrucane Katrina. We removed the bimini and dodger and secured all else. Did not have time to remove Jenny on furling, so I figure it would be blown ouit and lost.
Traffic was building up and we had to go or get stuck in it. So we went to Austin. I called yesterday and it sems that the marina held up well. The person that reported waded chest high toward the marina. He said that a quick look and all looke dgood so far. He didnt look for any individual boats. We have floating docks and the docks floated to within 1" of the top of the pilings.
I think we are Ok. I couldnt find any info on the marina Menesteus is in.

I dont know how many of you remember Franklin on this site. Anyway, he was a little disappointed tha Hurricane Gustav didnt hit here because he wanted to test out his high dollar anchors. Well, he got his chance. He anchored off of Galveston Island in Offats Bayou. I called him just prior to impact and all was holding up well. We spoke again yesterday after the storm and he and boat is fine.
Thats all I knoe for now.

I thought about you alot over the past few days. I am glad the Admiral, you and your boat came out alright. I thought those hurricanes must be following you around.lol

Good to hear from you guys. Good luck with your boats

My brother lives in Houston and they told him his power could be out for two weeks. Just very minor damage to his house. He had a new 30 Grady White on an indoor rack in Clear Lake (bottom of boat is normally 10 feet off ground) no word on it yet.
