Hello fellow Yamaholics:

Anyone have success contacting Japan lately? I have tried several times to check availability on cockpit locker hinges and latches on my 1985 Yamaha 37 with no response.

I would appreciate any input.

Thank you so much for your bright idea. I had their site on my favorites but didn't think of contacting them untill you suggested it.

I received a reply the next day to let me know they have forwarded my request to Yamaha where I will be contacted in a few days.

I will post updates and also see what support they have left for us Yamaha owners.

Regards,

Subject : Sailboat parts

Firstly we thank you very much for using Yamaha product.
I am Mr. Sadao Takayanagi of International Cooperation
group, Overseas Market Development Operation, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd,.
The group handles boat export business.

As you may be aware from our group name, our main task is working for
International Cooperation Projects under Japanese Official Development
Assistance. We are also corresponding with the customers who have
our boats / sailboats that were exported many years back.

Unfortunately, we do not export Boats / Sailboats on commercial basis
any more, and many of those models were discontinued.
However we would like to do our best to meet your requests for parts as much as
possible. So please let us know what parts you would like to have at
this time.

Thanks and best regards,

This gentleman knows English well enough to do business with, and the service I received when I ordered parts was excellent. My method of doing business is to photograph the part for which I needed a replacement, with a ruler next to it if appropriate, then e-mail it to him. In a couple days, I would get part numbers and price quote with shipping.
