Anyone familiar with the Beneteau 40, DOVE, missing off the coast of Maine?

I believe the DOVE is a Southern boat that was visiting Maine. The crew call 911 to report a distress call that fell off at 3 am. Saturday night off MDI. A full scale air search of NE coast has turned up nothing.

DOVE actually was rescued off the coast of Virginia by a freighter on Nov. 19, 3 days after the CG search off the coast of Maine on the 16th.

On the 18th, crew onboard DOVE sent a distress call: The sailboat was dismasted off Norfolk, and they were donning life jackets.

Few other details other than the captain is quoted saying that he made the trip, "for the love of sailing".

Fair enough.

And this story gets even stranger: The CG did finally interview the crew about the 911 call made off Mt. Dessert Island. The 911call - which was cut short - was prompted by a crew member who wanted to report that she, "was cold and uncomfortable and didn't know if she would warm up".

You just never know how your passengers will react to the conditions at sea. While it seems frivolous to a sailor, I can understand how there might be a point in a seasick passenger's journey when they are too afraid and uncomfortable to think clearly. It also sounds like they met with some serious weather shortly there after. A cursed journey. What about the adrift boat in populated shipping lanes?
