Anyone ever heard of using Cork for interiors

I thought I would ask to see if anyone has heard of or tried using cork for interior lining inside a boat. Let me explain. I'm wanting to make the interior less like a fridge. The boat is becoming my second home or "PMS" hut, so to speak. I like to make things different, out of the ordinary, wood will do on some areas, but the contours like the area of the windows are what I want to change and wood for the whole boat is not going to happen, neither is wallpaper, vinyl, veneer. So when I was making a bulletin board for work I noticed the thin 1/8 cork and how pliable it is. It resists mold and mildew and can be stained, even varnished. I know a good contact cement and surface prep are needed, but before testing an area inside I thought I might ask all of you. Thanks, Mark

Tartan

I know that Tartan among other builders used cork on their cabin soles in the 70s and it holds up pretty well. You might contact them and see if one of the old salts can fill you in as to what they used exactly and the type of finish if any.

Cork for interiors

You bet! Twenty years ago I visited aboard a 83' aluminum ketch built in Holland, and all of the visible hull interior was lined with cork, some light tan, some darker. The purpose was to reduce condensation, which it did, but it also looked great. I don't know how thick it was.

Thank you guys for the input. It looks like the cork is perfect for the interior. All of the attributes seem to make a perfect liner.
